No, nothing that does the same job in such a short time. The non prescription herbally type things can take weeks to kick in and arent as effective.

Arquel (sp?) or Danilon, both dearer than bute but my boy wont eat bute so if I need it I use one of the others.

Bute is by far the quickest and most reliable drug to use. I have a massive pot of the stuff and wouldn't be without it, even though I rarely use it.

Danilon shouldn't be any dearer than 'bute. Mine eat it better as it's not bitter.

My vet gives me tubs of bute and I have an even bigger tub of broad spectrum antibiotics. My vet sells it at almost cost price to me so almost as cheap and certainly quicker and easier than having to order them in from the States.

Things are quite different over here however I always had a supply of bute in my stables in England too ...... wouldn't ever want to be without it.
