jrp204 has come up with the most brilliant idea to assist "Lush" commit commercial suicide.
Look at the post in Hunting Forum.
Go and choose lots of stuff, especially those (very expensive) items which need weighing out etc.
Collect a basketful (or two) - worth, at the very least, £100.
Then ask for the whole lot to be gift-wrapped.
Let the sales assistant ring all your purchases up on the till.
THEN, smile sweetly, say that you do not support the Company's marketing policies - and walk out.
jrp204 is SUCH a clever girlie.

I think that's a bit daft actually... its the management we have the issue with - not the part time skivvies and similar who are just doing their job.

The Management refuse to answer any civilised queries - and anyone emailing "Lush", just results in receiving their "PR Blurb" - and no relevant answer whatsoever to pertinent questions.
I asked for the opinions of The Board of Directors and, more importantly, the Shareholders.
Lush's reply was the PR Blurb.
The only way to make Lush re-think their policy it through targetting their Retail Outlets.
Which will hit them - in the pocket.

Have just posted this on the Lush charity site, guess it won't be there for long!

'So glad your condoning violence to people working within the law! When are you going to start supporting the IRA or Football hooliganism?'

'I was just doing my job Gov'

sounds a bit familiar - does 'just doing your job' mean you are innocent despite doing the bidding of a questionable higher power?

for the record I think LUSH suck, and that includes anyone that chooses to work for them.

its the same mentality - that the little person should be absolved of all responsibility because they are merely 'doing their job' - regardless of what that might be.

The employees of Lush are presumably supporting the HSA by remaining employed at Lush.

It's actually far better to vote with your lack of custom, rather than waste some poor sales assistants time by doing as the OP suggests.

I agree. Its very close to the "I was just following orders." defence the minor Nazi war criminals used at the Nuremberg trials.

Please! How can you even put in the same sentence Lush employees and Nazis! I hope you've written this without thinking. This is disgraceful!

I personally think this is the most childish suggestion I've ever read. I also agree with Minxie who said in Soapbox that it's so hypocritical - hunt supporters were complaining about the loss of jobs caused by the hunting ban, yet are now ready to dismiss other people's jobs by wasting their time with the most childish behaviour. Coherence...

Please ignore this frankly juvenile suggestion, and just boycott the place instead.
The people who work for lush do so because like all of us, they have bills to pay to survive, and giving them pointless tasks such as this will soon alienate any sympathy towards hunting.
The best way to proceed if you really want to protest is by making it clear to their management by recorded letter how their actions will affect your shopping habits.
Taking it out on the staff is just plain spiteful, how would you like work you had painstakingly done to end up being trashed?

Hypocritical doesn't come into it as far as i'm concerned. I don't think this is necessarily a pro or anti hunting issue. I will not support any organisation that condones violence. Should we drag speeding motorists out of their cars or verbally abuse someone parking on double yellows, joe public wouldn't do this to people breaking the law so why is it ok to form vigilante groups to police what WE feel is wrong but is within the law? I disagree with hipster jeans on anyone over a size 12 and 25 yrs old but i wouldn't video the wearer and verbally abuse them.
I will not buy products that have been produced by unethical methods but in the same breath i will also not support those ethical companies that fund badly informed vigilante groups.

Yeah, that'll do it. That'll learn them! Lush'll think twice in future ;) *sigh* Can you explain the importance of asking for it to be gift-wrapped?

I suppose if you change the words "brilliant" to "immature" and "commercial suicide" to "minor inconvenience for sale assistants" you might have a point. I'm sorry, I just love seeing the phrase "commercial suicide" bandied around about this topic......

The suggestion is, however, a fantastic way to both jeopardise any valid arguments against supporting sabs and alienate members of the public who're not aware of the violent tactics used by some sabs. It's almost as if, in a weird twisted way, you're supporting Lush's company policies

And if you would like to note i haven't posted this 'Buy buy' thread, merely suggested (with a grin, which i thought meant 'cheeky') the original. Neither have i been into Lush - which is a bit of hardship since i have been a customer of theirs since Cosmetics to Go back in the 1980's. My feet have done the voting.

That'll be why my post wasn't addressed to you and, instead, quoted the OP :)

I'm also a former CTG customer.

Rediculous, ill concieved idea that will not earn the hunting comunity any sympathy. Hunt supporters must be percieved as being well informed, reasonable human beings if we are to have any hope of swaying public opinion. I sincerely hope nobody takes this seriously. By all means continue to write letters to management if you will, but please don't indulge in such petty behaviour!!

How silly.

I posted on the initial thread about this that even as someone who disagrees with hunting' I was very dissappointed to see Lush align itself with a group which has been known to use violent tactics against horses, hounds and humans.

Acting like this is childish, petty and will only result in people laughing at you. Lush are not going to commit 'commercial suicide'. This issue is very important to you, but it is just not really that on the radar for the majority of the population and, I would wager, the majority of Lush customers.

Jeez I hope admin delete this thread and all the other similar ones including the one CC posted in soapbox. It's a stupid idea and does nothing but make hunt supporters look stupid. Boycott yes but don't act spitefully in this way, it's pathetic.

qr what a ridivulous thing to suggest, I can't imagine the staff at Lush work there because they have a burning desire to contribute to the anti hunt movement.

I don't believe any of you would have the front to do it anyway, you would just end up buying the products and thereby helping fund the sabateurs.

Friggin' hell. As others have said, the people who work for lush have mouths to feed, bills to pay, as do the rest of us mere mortals. In a recession I wouldn't quit my job over the charity my company wanted to support either, particularly if I didn't know anything about HSA apart from what Lush have said.

But never mind, someone's mentioned the Nazis. Once that is mentioned in a thread, its game over for common sense I'm afraid. :smirk:

Naturally (and everybody else),

I'd just like to point out that if you think I am seriously comparing Lush employees to the Nazis, you have probably misunderstood my post.

Just making sure, ta.
