Hi

I am new to this, I want to buy my first horse and have been looking for a while now they seem cheaper to buy then ever before I have been loaning one but would like to buy. I have thought about going to a sale but they seem like a scary place. I have seen a couple of private sellers but would be worried about having no come back if something went wrong so I think I have decided to buy from a dealer - as I would get more guarantees and they have more to lose if something doesnt work out?

I have just seen a thread on here about a dealer with many good and bad comments - so now I am scared - who is good and who is bad? who should be avoided? I have approx 2000 to spend for a safe all rounder in Notts/south yorks border. i dont want to travel far.

You will always get some that are not happy regardless...but then there ARE some pretty shadey characters out there.
A good way forward is to go and see a horse you like, then go back a second time. If its a genuine seller they will not try and pressure you into buying on the 1st viewing, and will be happy for you to come back and see the horse again another day.
Then whatever you decide on, get it vetted!!

I think it is best to keep an open mind when looking for a horse and not rule out dealers or private sellers. However please take someone with you such as your trainer and never ever buy without a vetting.
