I have seen a rather stunning Fell, same age as Blue but a black, not a grey.

He is very reasonably priced and I am very very tempted. However, is it really sensible to buy a 2 year old coming into winter? I have moved mine back onto a livery yard for the winter to protect my fields from churning, so would have to pay out for another pony. However, come spring he will be almost 3 and possibly more expensive due to the time of year.

So, do I buy him now or wait till spring to look around for something?

Am I right in thinking that would put you up to four?

No will still be at three, loan horse is going back. As well as her and Blue fighting she has something going on with her joints, not sure what but she drags one of her legs and is very very clicky.

If you can afford it buy now as prices go up in the spring, especially if he'll be three, and you'll have a new toy to play with in the misserable days to come

Personally if you can afford it then buy it IMO. I have often bought horses in Oct/Nov. My reasoning is that you have the winter to get to know them, handle, school etc and then come the shows you are just about ready to go.
