hi there have you guys got any tips or advice on buying a childs first pony? what questions to ask etc etc?

maybe keep a look out at local p.c shows and word of mouth as really good childs ponies can be very sought after,

saying that it depends what you want to do with the child/pony if you intend on doing pc shows or just teaching a child and hacking about, you wouldnt need a really "showy pony for that"
Depending on what you are loking for I would be asking different questions. (along with the general ones of how to shoe, clip, box etc)
and would definatly expect to see the pony ridden by a child and if possible similar age of yours.

Depends whether it is a true first pony (lead rein/first ridden) for a tiny tot that you are after or just the first owned pony for an older more experienced child and what they/you want to be able to do with it.

The primary concern though should be safety and fun rather than looks/competitiveness/scope etc.
