Hello,

I have seen a gorgeous horse that i would like to purchase.

He has been 5* vetted and passed but i am a little concerned as the vet noted that he has a windgall and a curb on the same leg.
The owner said he has'nt been lame and he was evented regularly last year.

The vet also noticed he had some muscle tightness in his back, possibly due to an ill fitting saddle.

Should i be concerned? He is only 6 years old and i would be buying him to event.
Advice please.

The windgall alone would not worry me but the curb in a 6 year old would put me off, I am a bit surprised that the vet has passed him as fit for eventing, it is a weakness and may be contributing to the sore back. I would not want to start with a horse with this as it may not stand up to the eventing you wish to do.
If it was an older schoolmaster I may have a different view.

Thanks for your response. In the past my horses have been clean limbed so i have'nt had to deal with this issue.
The vet said that it should'nt pose a problem as they have settled and the horse has been sound as it has evented but it might be too much of a risk which would be a shame as he is lovely.

I would check you can get insurance on the leg with the curb my friend had a horse vetted last year the horse had a curb and although the vet passed the horse no insurance company would cover injuries that could be related to the curb she didn't get the horse in the end.
