buying a new horse

So i just wanted some advice on what to ask/do and also on the vetting proccess when buying a horse . Although this is my second horse my current boy of two years is on loan to me from a friend, so i have never actually gone to look at a horse with a view to buy! Is vetting something the owner should do with there vet when you have expressed an intrest or can you get you own vet to do it?

The buyer arranges and pays for the vetting and whatever you do, DON'T use a vet suggested by the owner. You need some-one impartial and independent.
