I have come across the saddle I want (Thorowgood 3D T6) in an online store, my saddler only stocks the older T6 styles. Would it be acceptable to have my saddler fit one of their saddles then I buy one from online (online the newer style is also around £100 cheaper) then have the fit checked or should I just buy the one from the saddler in the first plac? Even though it isn't the newer model I am after and would be a little more expensive.

Thanks

I rang him last time I bought a saddle from somewhere else as he is the most local to me (that I am awear of) and they were willing to fit saddles from elsewhere but the charge is higher (£50-60) but if I buy a saddle from them there and then the fitting is free.

Saddler should be able to order the saddle you want if he is a thorogood supplier, Ask what he would charge for it fitted then you can see if what you are saving is worth it.

If say the saddle is £100 cheaper and you spend £50 on fitting then you are still £50 in pocket but might be easier to change the saddle if the saddler orders it for you.

Speak to saddler, tell him which you want and what you can get it for online and ask what he will do it for fitted. he will prob want the business

shouldn't do, most tack shops will do special orders all the time, they want to keep all the trade they can get. They won't charge any extra, most places will have a standard mark up on the trade price (which will give them room for movement and then add it on to an order easily.

Ask him for price and ask what he would want to do if it didn't fit (ie would he charge you at all).

Thanks a lot I will pop over tomorrow to see what they say.

As a Thorowgood supplier your saddler should be able to order any of the Thorowgood range for you. he will not be charged for doing this, so there should be no extra charge to you. Please be aware that Thorowgood often have a wait of up to four weeks.
I would go with the saddle fitter everytime.
