Buying a used trailer is there a way....

Going to see an iw trailer this weekend, is there any way we can check its not stolen?

The only thing I can think of is to get the serial number and ask plod if they have a record of it being stolen

Get the serial number and ring IW, their trailers are datatagged and they will tell you if it's a dodgy one.

(Make sure it is actually the serial number for the trailer you are looking at if you ask the person for it before viewing. I went to see an older one which had had the number ground off. Very dodgy. They wondered why I didn't want to buy it. lol)

Thanks. I did sort of hope there might be a site with stolen trailers, like the one for stolen horses.

Get an online search done with TER, they keep a register of stolen plant equipment and trailers:

Also, if it is an Ifor Williams but newer than 2000 it will be data tagged and you can check with them too.
