Im looking at the possibility of buying a Van and paying for someone to convert it into a horsebox for me..

Has anyone done this- is it cheaper that buying a conversion already done?

Thanks guys

First of all, do you want a conversion or a coachbuilt?
Do you need a certain payload?
Do you have a certain budget?
Depending on the answers above, depends on the vehicle you will need.
Can you source the correct good quality vehicle?

If you can and you buy the vehicle, you could go somewhere who will over-charge you for the work they have done and you may end up paying more than if you had asked another company to supply and build the lorry.
Find a local company you feel you can trust and they will be able to help you make decisions.
You would be best to speak to people local to you, get their recommendations for coach-builders near you, phone round and make decisions after hearing their recommendations.

We looked into it, and it looked like it was going to cost not much less than a pre-done one.... and that was if it all was plain sailing and no margin for anything going wrong... If you find you can have it done cheeper please let me know how!?!
