So I sold my quirky pony I'd outgrown a few years ago after 3/4 happy years I sold to what I thought was a forever home and the pony has now been sold a few times and gone though the riding school. I also lost my bombproof tb recently. The pony is 19 and still in good health and it's 13.2 and stocky middleweight I'm 17 and over 5ft I'd probably be a bit big however they've for people my height/weight riding her in the riding school. Is it stupid to buy the pony back and pamper her and let her relax? I'm aware I'd probably be the one having to make her final decision but that doesn't bother me I feel selling her was a mistake. Please help I'm feeling rather guilty! I just don't like the thought of never knowing what happened and she can be quite quirky as I mentioned.

If you feel that way there is nothing to stop you buying her back, you could both have lots of fun with a little bit of riding and lots of handling, you can do loose schooling and some training in hand, even driving if you are in a suitable area. She might be ok for lead rein if a tiny wants to sit on her.
I used to take my boy out for walks in hand when he was a youngster, and I enjoyed it, a bit like dog walking, there is time to stop and chat to people. Most ponies will be fine to do lots of ridden walking, this is not tiring and builds muscles.

You've put my mind at ease! My friends grandchildren also like to come to have a walk out but there 14.1 is a bit big so I'm sure they'd love to have a walk around the farm on her too. I do remember loose schooling and join up with her all the time now I'm being nostalgic as it brings back happy memories! Thanks for the feedback :) I'm not overly bothered about the riding just want her to have it easy she deserves it

Buy her back! I spent years looks for a homebred mare so I could buy her back, I never found her and I regret selling her to this day. You only live once, and if you can pamper her for the rest of her days, well I think that's absolutely lovely!

I'd buy her back. I don't see why you'd be too big for her anyway, I'm 5'2" and my 22 year old 13.3hh welshie carries me no problem.

you might regret it if you don't! I never sold my childhood pony, still riding her now and we both in our twenties. I'm 5'7 and she's 14hh. I am tall on her, but she's been carrying me 10+ years no problem. I literally would not sell her for a million pounds, she'll stay with me to the end.
You might find you need to manage her a bit differently to how you remember now she is older. I know with mine she is fine as long as she has regular riding, I can't do 'weekend' only rides like I did when she was younger and I was at uni. She would 'sease up' if I did that now! I also have her living out now which helps with the arthritis, which she started to get at 19/20.
