I sent an initial text detailing a little bit about me, what I’d like to do with the horse and the home I could offer. I finished it by saying something along the lines of, ‘let me know if we sound a suitable match and it’s worth chatting further over the phone’.
When I tried selling my mare a couple of years ago, I got equally sick of countless messages I had to reply to, then phone calls at all hours of the day, to people who would chat for ages before being undecided about viewing or saying they’ll be back in touch but weren’t.

We recently sold mum's cob. One quick message, a thorough phone call to ensure it was potentially the right match and then a reasonable length viewing. Messages are fine but when you are selling and someone wants to correspond extensively by message - honestly they need to come and view after a good phone call.

I hate hate phoning but I found with private sellers I never got an answer with a text or email so I'd text initially to say I was going to call and what time and then put my big girl pants on called.

With dealers and breeders text/messaging seemed to work much better I think as they tend to have 'work hours' or are on a horse most of the day. I do prefer to have things in writing partly as I forget times and dates very easily if they aren't written down 🤦

I never fiddle about. Ring for appointment to view if I like the ad. Turn up and if it fits the bill, yes. If it doesn't then no. Never vet anything either. I am another who doesn't always have a sit on.
