Buying first horse

Hiya all, I have been thinking for the past few months about purchasing my own pony. Im 18 and At the moment I currently part loan 5 days a week. I have done a lot of research and calculations and have more than enough monthly income to look after a horse aswell as putting extra money away for hidden costs. I'm looking to get my own around April time and was just wondering if any body on here has or knows some one who
Is looking to sell in a few months? I'm looking for a 13.2 to 14.3 pony preferably between 5 and 15 as I'm looking to keep my horse for a long time, must thrive on attention I love a really friendly people loving pony as when I was 13 I full loaned a pony who I had such a big 1 on 1 bond with and this is what I miss most so a pony with a people loving personality is on my must list! Must be a confidence giver in the school and jumping as I haven't had much of a chance to have schooled over the past year due to the yard I'm at having no school! Must hack out alone as I enjoy the odd stroll on my own :-) however I am very experienced in spooking and cheeky strong ponies as my last two loans have both been very strong and cheeky! But nothing too nutty. I have a lot of experience so if any one knows if anything going let me know, your horse will go to a very loving home, I am more than happy to stay in regular contact and send pics and updates you can even come and visit if you wanted to! These ponies do exist you just have to drop on lucky sometimes to find them :) You have basically just described my little man (although describing his personality as "loving" may be stretching it a bit... he knows how to act cute if he thinks there's food involved hehe) albeit a younger version with no health problems. Absolutely no helpful suggestions seeing as though got him from a dealer via my YM so I guess he found me really. Good luck in your search!
 
My first horse was pretty easy to find, we only didn't buy him as I was young coming from a non horsey family my parents were unsure on whether I would grow out of horses lucky they didnt buy him because I did grow out of horse riding for about 2 years at the age of 15, would have put it in the wanted section but I have literally just joined h and h so don't have a clue what to do as well as the forum being on iPhone format it's a tad confusing!! Lol also, not to sure if it Is a wanted as of yet I'm not looking for a good few months just want to get an idea of what's out there at the moment. Thanks for your helP
 
Thanks a lot boulty, I'm not after a 'perfect horse' really if I made it seem that way, I'm happy with a horse that dosnt load well, gets fizzy hacking is strong and cheeky, it just has to be good in the school, not so much with ability it dosnt have to be an olympic winning school master, just something which will boost my confidence. Which lives attention as my part loan dosnt really care about cuddles and fuss but my full loan did and I just prefer all the fuss lol. Your little guy sounds wonderful! Think they are all rather partial to a bit of food lol

Just make sure you take a second experienced "eye", vet prior to purchase. If your gut instinct is telling you its not right or the seller is not too honest ...believe your instinct(trying to be helpful as some real porkers told).

If you can ask a good riding establishment if they know of any for sale ie word of mouth. Worth putting the word about now and just keep looking. Obviously the usual for sale H&H, Horsemart etc etc Adverts can not be the full picture unfortunately.

Good luck you might take a long time to find or you might get lucky. As said needle in a haystack. You will know when you find the right one and make sure you do all the things you want to do with it before you buy.
 
Where are you? I've got a fantastic up to height Welsh C I will be selling come the spring.
 
Thanks a lot indie999 for advice deffinatly will not buy with out a vetting and will probably get my yard manager to come along for tge experience, yes will take my time and no be to hasty , will ask my local riding club as well. Clodagh I'm based in Kent but willing to travel for tge right horse, love welsh cs my current part loan is a C can I have some more info. Hi Sirocco I would love to see the ad! Thanks a lot
 
It's worth contacting the DC of your local pony club or chair of riding clubs in your area as sometimes they know of something good coming onto the market. Good luck with your search.
