A friend of ours recently did this and now can't get in touch with them!

We didn't realise until the purchase went through that she was actually a dealer unfortunately, they went looking for a nice quiet pony for their 10 year old daughter. They tried said pony out and she was fine but since getting her home hasn't been so.

She's ok with confident adults handling her, she just gets fidgety/stroppy if she knows you aren't confident around her. If she doesn't want to do something when you are handling her she'll plant or reverse, I usually make her reverse then walk on and she's fine but she will try and walk all over you.

Yesterday she decided that as soon as her rider was on her she'd proceed to march straight off the yard and down the lane even though all the other horses she was hacking out with were standing still on the yard! The child who was riding her could stop her and when she tried the pony would rear but we partly think the child was tensing, gripping her reins and leaning forward so the pony had no where to go but up. My boyfriend got on her to see if it was the pony or the ride - cue the pony standing stock still on the yard with no rein contact.

Now if they wanted to send her back or anything I presume they don't really have a leg to stand on as the receipt states sold as seen and she never did anything like it at the dealers yard?

What did the advert say, and was a vetting done?

We don't have the advert anymore but I'm sure it said suitable for a child (and a young girl rode her on viewing). Nothing about rearing etc.

The blacksmith came out on Saturday and he'd shod her before - apparently she hadn't been shod for at least 3 months and can be bolshy/strike out when nervous. She didn't display any of these tendancies at the viewing. She also tries rearing in the menage.

I'm not sure if it's a case of she's been handled by adults and older teenages in the past and is happier with them as I've got a couple of people to ride her that are older and she's been fine.
