Does anyone have prior experience of purchasing a horse from Ireland or have a good contact for something reliable. I'm prepared to travel out there to view or if very reliable and with vet certs and video, unseen (ducks and runs for cover!!)

Any recommendations............serious!! Mad as it may seem I'm prepared to give it a go!! Can't be much worse than purchasing from some auctions!!

What are you looking for?
if its a sportshorse there are lot of large auctions over here like goresbridge and cavan that have a good reputation and the horses come with a vet cert to them(id still egt bloods done to be safe but needing a cert does tend to discourage playacting at them)
Otherwise contacting different yards aith what your looking for tends to be a good idea.
But again it depends what your looking for jumpers and hunters tend to be easier to come across that say placidcob hackers though though there are a few good dealers in them to.
As far as i know the cost for transporting a horse from ireland is around 200 pounds....read it on here a while ago..

Hi if you PM me to remind me i'll get you the details of the bloke my friend bought her 4 year old from. She bought him off a bloke called Paddy who was based near us until recently when he moved back to Ireland, Limerick i think. Really nice 4 year old show jumping type that she bought without a vetting as it had a vet certificate and x rays from when it was 3

And Paddy's really nice so no dodgy dealers to contend with lol.

I bought my big Irishman a couple of years back he is wonderful and I can't thank the yard that I went to buy him. He then cost me £250 door to door. It was like going to a candy store so many I could have some home with. I got him from Flowerhill equestrian wonderful place to try out all paces. Great cross country course but do watch the lake when they say it is deep they mean it it came up to my boots on the edge. Good luck in your hunt.

Jenhunt, have always wanted to go for a weekends irish hunting, how uch was it if you dont mind me asking? want to take friend as birthday surprise!
