Have always bought from private bods before and have had mixed success, Im not very experienced at this horse lark.
Would you recommend buying from sales livery and what is the difference to a dealer? Anyone know anything about SpringBank Livery near Bromley ?

Sales livery is just that . They prepare and market the horse for a private seller. We sold a pony this way. We were too upset about the sale to show the pony to loads of different people. We still spoke to the people who bought her and made sure she went to the right home just avoided the timewasters, endless phonecalls etc. I think we paid 10% of the sale price and of course the livery costs.

Sales livery is a good way to buy. I bought a dressage horse that way and sold an eventer. The sales livery people tend to be more realistic about a horses capabilities than dealing with the owner direct. However, they will aim to get the best price possible as they are on commission. It is certainly worth a look on your part.

You have no comeback if buying from sales livery, it is a common ploy dealers use when selling a dodgepot.
I don't know the ins and outs of the legal details, but sure someone who does know will come along soon.

I sold through one.Everything was very upfront.Am in touch with new owners.Horse happy and well cared for while there. You don't have the same legal comeback as a dealers, but you have the same comeback as a private sale.Check if its a dealers though that it is a genuine private sale not one of the dealers he is trying to pass off as a private sale.Buying horses is a lottery however you do it.
