What do you look for? HAY!! Sorry only joking

My dad sells hay from the field its always a bit cheaper because you have to get it yourself. The hay will probably be a bit green. Happy hay hunting x

It helps if you can watch your hay growing, then you can see if there is any ragwort growing in it, also if when its been cut has it been turned properly, allowed to dry, and if its been rained on while on the ground, cheeper off the field but hard work!!!!!!!!

It is best to try and find out if the fields are fertilized or are they cut year after year without, which means there would be little food value.

It's cheaper but then you have the worry part! We get our hay from the same field every year (from a neighbour), we also help with the stacking of the bales / moving them etc. But it is worrying when its cut, hoping the weather stays nice and dry!! When it rains your gutted because you've already agreed to take it and it could end up crap!!
