Been saving up for a 3.5 ton Equitrek for a couple years now. This year however everytime I take my 20+ year old 7.5 tonner out its given me probs so not much saving going on but plently of trips to garage for current lorry:eek: Anyway in this thursdays H&H was exactly what I'm looking for and its just down the road:p. Sat on it for a while as not quiet saved enough but came home Sunday after yet more probs with current lorry - try asking for a jump start from posh BD people:eek: no fun, but found my brother at home, talked to him and he said he'd come and look at it with me.

The lorry is exactly what I want. A few niggling problems, its advertised as taxed and tested but the tax has run out (they still managed to take it to shows thoughout March:eek:), MOT not to hand and the mileage slightly different to advertised. Also its in desperate need of a service and needs new tyres but nothering which can't be sorted before putting my own horse in. This was Sunday, apparrently they had people coming down from Scotland on the tuesday (today) - the lorry is in East Anglia! Because of this asked if OK to bring a mecanic down to look at it Monday, they said OK.

Monday comes and off I pop to beg from bank and book mecanic. Finaly got lorry owner on phone who said mecanic can't look at lorry mon or tues as her and her parents are at work all day - what about people from Scotland:confused:. Anyway she'd phone me back re viewing it Wednesday, except she didn't. I get the answer machine everytime I call and the time I do get her she says she'll check with work and get back to me which of course she doesn't:rolleyes:

Since no answer on the phone popped in there this morning but no one in - horses had been done and turned out. Did get reg no of lorry so now off to get mecanic to do an hpi check on it. Question is the seller is 22 years old still living at home (lorry was 21st bday present but she now has 5 horses so needs something bigger), is she just naive and not getting on with it or as I am beginning to suspect something not right and I should run mile:eek:

Never spent this much money on anything other than house before so don't want expensive mistake any advice appreciated, thanks:D

Nah, she's probably just stupid, I'm just the same with vehicles. Take the mechanic to look (if you can get hold of her!) and use the fact that it's not as advertised to haggle.

Super-Kat think you're right, finally got hold of her and mechanic out, basically very good mechanically, hpi clear etc just needs service. However then got told wrong price in H&H, apparrently online it's £2k more! Offered £500 over the magazine price, she was sleeping on it and calling me at 8am, surprise surprise no call.
Thanks for replies, I know loads out there but not maney with genuine low mileage plus it's so much easier/cheaper to arrange mechanics you know and trust when box a mile down road!
