Has anyone managed this? I am thinking it's very unlikely, but have emailed the clerk in case. Any experiences appreciated thanks!

Personally no but I know someone that did many years ago they sold the house in the village but kept the land as its worth a small fortune now.

Are you sure that the land in question belongs to the Parish Council? many of them are given acess or use of land that doesn't belong to them. You can check by contacting the land registry for a small fee.

Bumping in case anyone else has any info that may help you.

Thanks that's very kind. Funnily enough, I have just got an email from the clerk and I was incorrectly informed, the PC does not own the field after all! So, my investigations continue. I will use the Land Registry and there is someone else I can ask too. I am considering moving into a lovely house with 2 acres, but have 4 horses so need a few more acres to even consider this realistically. Thanks again.
