Hi All,

I have decided to take the plunge and buy my first proper youngster.

I am looking for a 2 1/2- 3yo, to make approx' 15/15.2, nothing to heavy.

Are there any big glaring things that I should avoid etc...

V xx

(I am an experienced horse owner etc just never had my own baby)

If it's your first proper youngster then I would be looking for something that has been well handled, something that is naturally laid back that will make the backing process easier for you.

Don't forget to take another experienced person with you to point things out that you might not see.

Good luck!

Definitely look for something with a good temperment. A horse that seems quite laid back and not bothered by new things. With my first youngster, at the first viewing, I walked him in hand on the road as a 2 year old. His first ever time on the road without another horse to follow and there was someone up in a cherry picker and he paid no notice, that was what sold him to me!
