I put up an Ad on Horse Quest & Horsemart last week and have had heaps of responses and hopefully one will pass the vet check today! However, had an interesting phone call last week and they still want to see if I would like to see the horse. Basic stats are that the horse is an A Grade Jumper and is only 15yo and not that expensive. However, when I look at the BSJA website, they state that the horse is 19! Who would be correct? Does the BSJA ever get the age wrong? I just dont know if I should mention to the seller that they are advertising the horse 4 years younger than what the BSJA claims.

It could be possible. Even though my vet had the correct age of my horse from her wetherbys passport, they gave the wrong date to my insurance company and made her 3 years older than she was. The simple thing to do, is ask the vendor to prove the horses age. If they cannot give you irrefutable proof, don't get involved.

Sounds like they are trying to pull a fast one on you to be honest, thinking you won't check.

Just ask them, if they are going to tell you that the horse is a grade A then they should have expected you to check. I haven't known any horses with the wrong age on the bsja site as when horses are first registered the bsja have to have their passport. It is possible it's a mistake but it sounds a bit dodgy

Thanks everybody :) Have to call the seller back after I have spoken to the vet about this other horse. I will mention to them either way that perhaps they should look into his age as they cannot really command that price considering there is a 4 year gap and that gap means a competition home or more of a quieter home.
