Its my dads 70th birthday soon, and i know he has always wanted to get involved in point to point race horses. I know people can be in a syndicate and buy shares in them, but I can only find things for really big and expensive groups. Do the local p2p trainers do something like this? we are in Kent, so if anyone has any ideas?
I think what he would like is to be able to go and watch the training, see the stables, go to the meets etc.

Have you looked at something like Elite Racing which is a club, so lots of members who don't actually own a horse but pay a sum and become a club members with visits to places, races etc.

Have a look also at the website for the Racing syndicates and clubs association - rsaca.com.

I have no connection with any of the above but it may give you some ideas.

Might be worth looking at some local trainer's websites and seeing if they do syndicates? Lots of them seem to! Such a lovely idea for a birthday present!

Wish someone would do this for me!

I have heard good reports of the Elite Racing Club, they have a string of racehorses and arrange visits to yards, etc. Tickets to go to the racing is at a reduced rate, not free.
I think you just pay a monthly or annual subscription and there is a magazine and regular reports of how the horses are doing. The advantage of this is that if one horse can't run for any reason, there are plenty of others to follow, so not all eggs in one basket.

I expect point-to-pointers are owned by groups of friends who get together.

There are flat/NH yards which do a joint ownership/syndicate where you buy a share in the horse for a hundreds/thousands and then pay a monthly training fee. At least with a racing yard there is a (remote) chance of winning some prize money.

There is one yard in Wiltshire and another in Newmarket that I know of, but I expect that most yards have some sort of set up like this.

Well, we have done it!! we have bought a share In Lingfield park owners group! Its his birthday next week, and I got all the paperwork and certificate yesterday!! And i just cant wait to give it to him now!!!

yes they are, but without the details in front of me, I couldnt tell you what they are called!!

I just had a nosey on the website and seen which horses they have :p saw one of them run the other day, looked like a nice little horse.
