Hi,
Just wondering if people know we're to buy turmeric from? Does it come in a powder or liquid form? I can only find it in capsules. My horse is a 15.2 warm blood, would anybody possibly know the amount I would need to give her everyday please? Thank you, tor!

Well we use it in cooking and buy it from any Asian shop. All it does really is make things yellow! ie Currys etc it doesnt have much flavour. In a pan of food for 4 I usually put about half tablespoon full. Its quite cheap. It will stain as well.

Used instead of saffron etc. Whats it supposed to do then?

Any big supermarket. It's usually sold in powdered form. Rubysmum on here used a small supplement scoop per day on her big girl.

Oh interesting is it ok to give with BUTE? Might try some

Mind you I meant for the horse but am just thinking I eat it and it doesnt work for me! Perhaps I should increase?

I would double check; turmeric is a weak prostaglandin inhibitor and therefore acts in a very similar, if not identical way to bute.

It is like giving 1/8 of a sachet or less of bute, so good for horses with subclinical arthritis etc., but it will also have the same side effects (though as it is much less potent than bute it is likely they will be proportionally less severe)

:)

A friend gets mine for me through her canteen at work, they can get catering pack which work out cheapest. I feed a 15ml scoop twice a day and can really notice the difference in my lad since I started it, he is much less stiff and his joints hardly click at all now.
