buying turnouts specifically as stable rugs

Hi all, was wondering what everyones thoughts are on buying turnout rugs to use as stable rugs, to change into out of 'field' turnout into 'stable' turnout? the reason for this would be to keep cleaner with the waterproof protection and to be able to clean the wee/poo off? i have found threads on keeping turnouts on once brought in, but Im talking about having a set of indoor turnouts?? are they as comfortable? too heavy etc? whats your thoughts?
 
I saw a Masta Avante rug recently and considered buying it as a stable rug, very smart little rug and not as crinkly as a turnout (if that makes sense!)
 
One of ours was a filthy nightmare in the box when we got him stale rugs got wet and stank so I got him an outdoor rug if it gets mankiy we shower it off on him and let it dry, works well .
 
I've never brought an outdoor specifically to be an indoor but do normally try to buy ones that are supposed to be dual purposed e.g. some fals and premier equines.

No issue using them indoor as the waterproof membrane is breathable although tbh they get just as dirty as a stable rug if used indoors but when you go to take them to the cleaners you get charged the outdoor rug rate. ;)
 
I would buy simple ones like amigos or mios, no leg straps and you are also paying less as the denier is lower. Seems silly to fork out on a top of the range rug!
 
No probs with it - I think turnout rugs often fit better and don't rub so much either. I'd take the leg straps off it they aren't going outside in the rug - theres no need for them if the rug fits well anyway..
 
I don't buy them specifically though I do use old breathable ones as stable rugs if they fit the horse well. It doesn't matter if they have been repaired and the waterproofing is lessened as long as the rug is comfortable - I also strip off any leg straps and use a softer lighter fillet string.
