Hi, does anyone have like a 'go to' list to look for new horses? I've been searching from March and had a couple of promising ones that fell through for one fault to another.
Thank you :)

I've been looking since January. I've tried 7 which have fallen through for various reasons. I've also had quite a few videos / pictures sent to me which have been unsuitable and I don't travel to see a horse if they can't send a current video showing it's sound and not making a noise.

There are plenty of people who buy with no viewing or vetting so I've missed out on some, but I don't need another pet and I plan to keep permanently so needs to be something I enjoy riding.

What type of horse are you looking for and do you have enough in your budget?

The only thing I’ve learnt about buying a new horse, is that the one you end up buying is usually around the corner (and not what you thought you wanted).
I couldn’t agree more with this statement …. I have been looking all over Europe and have just arranged a vetting on one less that 5 miles from my house and nothing like what I was looking for

Yeah, defo, I'm very much the same with the videos- so many videos show a lame horse hopping away, and with the viewing and vetting- gonna have permanently so has to be sound and enjoyable.
Looking for a 16hh allrounder type to have some fun with, start competing and hope to start affiliating in the future- doesn't need to be perfect, wanting to put my own stamp on it. I've got a healthy budget for what I'm looking for :)

I would say most of the horses I've viewed have come from horsequest, but the equestrian notice board, whickr, horsemart are also OK, and on fb eventing uk, and quality horses and ponies UK.

This week I have called about 2 which the sellers have not returned my calls and am trying as yet unsuccessfully to arrange a viewing with one who has been in contact. I do think it's worth waiting for the right one to come along but your not alone in not finding it an easy process.
