Today my GF's pony Buzz, crashed head first into the fence of the lunge pen at her yard, cut his face open, almost lost his left eye and stripped right down to the bone on his nose, 40 Stitches later he looks like this

looks gruesome, but head injuries heal well due to such a good blood supply. your vet has done a nice job. why did the pony run into fence? left eye looking good from the pics. hope it all goes well.
 
Poor thing; I bet that was a right mess before it was stitched, strange thing to happen...
My filly took a big flap of skin off her face, I think on a broken rail; I was sure there would be a scar but it has healed beautifully after stitching.
 
We beleive he was trying to jump out, he has been put loose in the lunge pen many times before as is a bugger for hanging round the gate causing trouble in the fields, never ever be a problem at all, he was in sight of other horses and people and when she left him to go and muck out he was happily munching the section of hay he was left with, :(
