Well today he seems slighlty better than he did yesterday. today his system is very slow and there are droppings but not quite normal, he didn't eat his dinner last night which is understandable, left some of his breakfast this morning but has eaten all his dinner tonight, (bran mashes) have been walking him to get his gut moving nd he has been out in the field. he's not colicy, just not very happy.

It must be to do with the name... we had an old pony called Buzz who used to get out of his stable (including kick bolt!) and into the feed shed, down the wooden steps, into the feed bins and stuff himself silly with what every was there. He would then have to reverse out back up the steps as there isn't enough room for a pony to turn round (he was 13hh).

on one occasion he ate a good 1/3 bag of dry sugar beet with no ill effects other than feeling a bit unhappy for a couple of days.

IMO - start shovelling fibre down your Buzz... that will get his gut moving quicker than bran. they can actually fully digest modern bran as it is so processed. So it doesn't do the job that old fashioned bran did unless you are adding epsom salts to it as a laxative!

Decent of her to offer. Hope she's learned!

When we were kids, I helped my best friend with her ponies...one in particular was brilliant at opening doors. One day, he let himself and his field mate out of the stalls, they broke into the feed room, and polished off a huge amount of sweet feed...we spend a long time walking them and praying they didn't develop laminitis, and the YO didn't believe us that we hadn't left the stall doors open. Eventually, they realised how good that pony was at escaping, and added a clip to prevent the latch from opening...

...he still lived to be 46 or so...
