Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in my foal that appeared in H&H. This is his history and some pics as requested.
Sire: Romeo SHB(GB) Elite (03.03.0979 to 19.03.2007)
Dam: Betty Bug SHB(GB) Head Studbook/SPSS Elite

Betty Bug is the only known offspring of the International Grade A Show Jumper Barry Bug the former ride of Geoff Glazzard and John Whitaker. She is a 148cms JA pony that competed on the Scottish teams. We originally sent Betty away to Stud in 2001 and she returned with a massive infection, the vet took a bucket of puss out of her uterus, we tried until 2004 to get her infoal using the best vets but she never held has she suffered with heavy fluid and sometimes would get infections after the semen was put in. We gave up and she was loaned out to compete and in 2006 we decided to have one last bash at getting her infoal, as we were going all out and not sparing any expense we decided to use Romeo this time as you may as well put the best you have in there. For anyone that doesn't know Romeo he is the sire of nearly 1000 offspring and was stood in Belgium and Holland until I bought him into this country at 25 years old. He competed in International Show Jumping with Marc Van Dijck of Belgium his winnings were outstanding he earned around 190,000 francs in 1991 alone. He has been WBFSH ranked as a sire in both Show Jumping (mid 1990s) and Dressage (recent). He was a highly fertile stallion thats pregnancy rates were always over 90% whilst I had him.
Back to Betty, to are shock she took and held in foal and Baby Bug was born earlier this year, he is the most amazing foal I have seen and I adore him, he isn't for sale and I already have people wanting first refusal should I ever decide to sell.
Currently he hasn't been named, has we haven't found a name good enough yet, he is affectionately known as Baby Bug, Bugalugs (mainly because he harasses him mum all the time and she is very patient with him - another shock because I would have put money on her being a stroppy mummy!) or BJ. We want to continue the Bug name but can't think of a good one.
We have made the decision that we will not be trying to put Betty back in foal, alot of people think this is criminal but she suffered a couple of haemorrages after foaling (luckily not major ones) and I love this pony dearly and do not want to risk breeding her again, I have one very very stunning foal and I am counting my blessings. So Baby Bug has the sole responsibility of carrying on the Bug lineage!

Thanks again for everyones interest and any name suggestions greatly appreciated xxx

I would call him Baby Bug - I think it is a lovely name, no one would forget it. Have you any pictures of Romeo?

Thanks. His mums nickname is Buggles or Boo. I really like the name Baby Bug, it was pointed out to me that as I wanted to leave him entire (if he makes the grade) that it isn't a very masculine name for a stallion lol

If she had had a filly we were going to call the foal Love Bug or Lady Bug! I did completely go off the Bug theme and suggest he was called Priceless because of the amount of money we spent in the last 6 years but I got shot down by the powers that be for even suggesting not using the Bug name, not that they have come up with anything suitable they say he should be called Barty Bug (Bar from Barry and ty from Betty) but I already own a Barty. I have threatened to register him as Buga Bugalugs Bug but that would just be too cruel (poor foal)

Thank You!

He is just gorgeous, stunning, beautiful, and wow has he grown

and hes changed colour completely!

No wonder hes not for sale. He's certainly going to be talented.

I can't think of any names with Bug in at the moment.

I think The Love Bug would suit very well with a stable name of Herbie as in the film of that name - the car was quite level headed, intelligent, good at it's job and very definitely a male.

Thanks

He is just starting to lose his foal coat round the eyes and the muzzle you can't see in the pictures but he is! I can't believe how much he's grown either he about 6 weeks now and I reckon he is going to be as tall as mum before he's weaned, he's going to have to kneel to get to the milk bar
shocked.gif
lol

I never thought of the Herbie films when naming him, I use to love those films!

If I named him Love Bug or Baby Bug and he ended up staying entire do you think people would laugh at the name for a stallion?

I don't think anyone would laugh, I love the name The Love Bug and it would be really catchy, which people would remember.

What i can't stand is these names that you can't even prononce and then can't remember.

Lol I think Love Bug is looking the most likely name at the moment but open to other suggestions until I recieve his registration forms from SHB(GB) they seem to be running late at sending them out this year!

Is this where I own up to having horses named - Loheky Helios de Bornival, Sissi Van de Brouwerijhoeve (we don't even attempt to pronounce the last bit of that one) and we once had a Vobijntje!!!

lol.

LOL, oh that really did make me laugh. How the hell do you actually *try* and prononce Vobijntje?!?!

I tell you what, I really would not want to be a commentator these days

We weren't really sure how to pronounce Vobijntje, we pronounce it Vobiente, i think thats as close as anyone is going to get, lol.

Its sissi's name that causes the most problems, when she went BSJA my friend that rode her use to have to take the card to fill out the entries and she'd have the card out copying it like a spaz and the secretary would give you a funny look until you handed them the form and they looked at the name, we use to laugh at the commentators trying to announce it, some would try but the funniest was when one said 'and this is......riding sissi van de err *pause* oh forget it'.
shocked.gif

I think Helios' is quite easy just long but people like to say Lokey instead of Loheky and Bornaville instead of Bornival but whatever rocks their boat. I use to ride a horse called Bartok and the amount of commentators that couldn't pronounce that was unbelieveable he even got announce as Barbara once

Now that is hilarious, LOL!!!

I think Baby Bug isn't that bad for a stallion, I can actually picuture it on a lineage thingy lol. Besides 'CVS Spellbound' isn't really masculine for a stallion but u get it when you see him!
wink.gif

Will have a think but as you well know I'm absolutely useless with names!! lol

I want pics of Dorendas foal, you got a name for him yet?
