I wanna know too!! So gutted I coudnt do it- 4 year od is lame and Moon just wouldnt compete against the established 5 year ods
Oh well, maybe next year!!
I was wondering about if you had gone!Aww am sorry that you couldnt go. I think that you couldve had a crack with Moon anyway, some of the horses I;ve seen in that class are *terrible* and Sorrell loves a bold jumper!
I had someone moaning about BYEH classes who is a v. experienced SJ in Bristol. They were moaning that great jump/ability was being missed for something pretty. They said the winner had fences down which was not on. They watched the one at Hartpury.
Hopeless!A true jumper with real supposed '4 star' talent would never have a fence down at that height. Think that BYEH is more of a popularity contest...if the horse is ridden by someone like Angela Tucker it will automatically get more marks in everything

debatable, my mare is advanced and is one of only a few that ever jumps clear SJ, (she has only knocked four rails in two years) she had a pole or two when she was BYEH! she just wasn't mature then, give these horses a chance!
Yes exactly, Horses aren't mature especially at the age of 4 or 5! (I would be worried if there wasnt room to improve/grow/mature! )
They havent fully grown especially the tb ones. Be realistic. Fair enough the wb types will always jump clear but most won't make 4* eventers!
I think what these Sjs were moaning about was it was a beauty contest. Now some of these horses are very special who have won and have proved it internationally. But it is very hard for the average amateur on a v.nice horse to do well against a pro.
I guess its that age old issue of an average horse will go further with a pro than a special horse with an amateur? Surely this must influence decisions?
Completely agree lec, all I was saying that its bad judgement to say a horse won't make 4* just becasue it has one or two down/ has mistakes in the early years.
I think BYEH should follow lead from the Irish young horse classes where XC is included, then maybe the amateur on a fab horse will be able to prove it.
