BYRDS: Talent Spotting

Anyone got any experience of the BYRDS talent spotting? One of my friends is thinking she may try it next yr....
 
i did the talent spotting last year.

Basically you get put into 3 age groups. Then you each ride a test. Then you have a short lesson with your age group, and then you swap horses after having a discussion about scales of training etc. Once you have swapped horses you then have to comment on the horse you have ridden, and what exercises and training you would do to improve it, what you liked about it etc.
 
I did it about five years ago at Talland. It was basically as P_G says, byut we had to ride two other horses - must have changed it since.

I say go for it - it doesn't cost that much to enter and the trainers that give the lessons are very good. It is a really good opportunity to ride other peoples dressage horses and compare to your own.
 
Thanks everyone. I think what she is really interested to know is how they select the people they like at the selection days. Is it based on riding ability on the day or something else??
