Caffrey update - good news I think - side bone???

I posted the other day that Caffrey was lame and mum and the farrier thought it was ring bone or side bone. Well he's been to the vets today and the vets today and he thinks it's side bone, although he hasn't given him any xrays yet.

He seems to think this should settle down and he should come sound and be able to carry on as normal.... does anyone have any experience of side bone??? Help!!??

my horse has side bone and she is being pts tomorrow,she has it very bad and also has ring bone,i think it worse because she is a heavy cob and is very heavy on her feet,she was exrayed in november and she was ok but starting to have difficulty turning but 2 weeks ago she has gone lame and is very stiff so as i said she is being pts tomorrow.i dont want to worry you, as my vet she has it very bad and has had it a long time but hopefully your horse will come sound and can carry on as normal

Someone I knew had a horse with sidebone. I'm no expert on it, and my memory id vague, but I do know that it was diagnosed in the november, they gave the horse the season off (on boxrest), and then turned out the following summer, and hunted him for many years after that. Sometimes he would need buting and to have a week off, but on the whole he lived a very active life. He was PTS about 6 years later due to something else.
