I was always told they would excrete any excess, this is a revelation. Fortunately I only feed straights, seems there is Mg in a lot of compound feeds, so really difficult to assess the amount in the system. Thanks for this link Becky Holden

I have the problem of too much calcium in feeds both added and also in the form of naturally occurring calcium in feeds like alfalfa and sugar beet. He's a complete donkey normally but give him unmolassed sugarbeet and he turns into the amazing exploding Tb. I have since done forage analysis of all the yards I was at and like jilla only feed straights as it was too difficult with compound feeds.
