Caldene jackets - maids larger than ladies? And slightly yellow breeches?

I'm looking for a new tweed jacket but don't do a lot of showing so don't want to spend a fortune. Tried on some Caldene ones today, a ladies 34 was slightly large so I tried the maids 34 and it was much too big. Is this right or is it more likely that one was wrongly labelled? The shop only had one in each size so there was nothing to compare with. I may end up having to order online but I'm completely bemused now.

Also, I've realised my cream breeches look much too pale against tweed but I don't want anything too yellow. Is there any middle ground, not too pale and not too bright or strongly coloured. I've seen a couple of things online that look promising and then see other pictures and they look positively luminous. I'm starting to think it would be easier to give up on showing but the horse loves it as a change from dressage.

Could you chuck some yellow dusters in with the current pair, for the breeches? It dies them, but only slightly...

That's a thought, I know people do that with shirts. I might try it with an older pair and hope they don't end up looking tie-died!

Promise they come out looking good!

This is the most luminous they've looked, and this immediately post-dying.

This is where they're normally at...

Maids are normally more straight cut and ladies more curvy so it depends on your shape which will be better

Maids should be smaller than ladies - usually shorter in the sleeves & body

Thanks, I'd expected the maids to be smaller at least in length but after trying them on I wondered if there was something weird with Caldene. Seems more likely the one labelled a maids was actually a ladies 36, even though I checked the sewn in labels. After today I think I might just stick with my old jacket, even if the lining is disintegrating. A new jacket isn't going to help me persuade the horse to contain her enthusiasm in the ring...
