My old mare has arthritis and today when we were out she stumbled quite badly, and nearly went all the way down. We were on a very stoney track at the time (the off road riding we have) so idf she had gone down her knees would have been in a hell of a state.

I'm looking at combined knee/brushing boots and was going to get a pair of westropp but have now seen the Caldene which I really like - typical as they are twice the price :).

Which is the best one between the two and anyone any idea on the sizing of the Caldene.

Jeffiries leather knee boots are what I use. I think that when a horse goes down on its knees (as mine did, pics in Veterinary) you need more than neoprene.

That's what I've been wondering when I've looked at them again. Think I'll splash out a pair of Jeffries - she's worth it :D

I have the westropp ones and there fab. I also have caldene front wraps and rear brushing boots and they are crap, infact the worst boots ever, made of horrible cheap material , feels like plastic on the inside. I defo go for westropp

I have Jeffries ones but have had a look at the new Woof Smart ones in the saddlery and think they look really good and nicely cushioned/padded on the straps round the back of the leg. Haven't bought any tho, just looked!

I've been looking at those on the net but I think they might be too big for her - she's only 14.1hh.

I've found an ancient pair of the leather/felt ones I was given so have been using those for the time being, what is the point of the felt is it just for cosmetic reasons?
