I always thought my spotty had a good mane and tail until I realised I haven't had to trim her mane for 8 years and her forelock is shorter now than when she was a yearling.

The cobs on the other hand can grow hair to their ankles in months.

I had to ask on one of the appaloosa FB pages what colour mine was. Even now I'm not sure I saw bay varnish roan snowcap in the right order.....

Having spent over an hour last night holding the old fart while a hairdresser friend reduced mane to this (and there is the same amount of mane on the other side of his neck!), I am all for sparse spotty manes that don't need trimming!

She is absolutely beautiful. I have no idea what colour she is but I notice that like me you conclude that sparse mane=neck strap!

That's not me - I'd squash the poor little thing flat! It's her new owner on board, and despite having some nerves to work through, after the first horse she bought last year put her through hell - she hasn't felt the urge to grab the neck strap once. The mare is just a saint!
