You can feed 2 large scoops Alpha a oil ( a few handfuls is not very much) and quite a lot of speedibeet. Micronised linseed is also good for condition. I'd give that and Top spec balancer at full rations.

Ad lib haylage as there is nothing in the grass now.

First winter out - how much scoop wise of the top spec should i be feeding per feed? (twice per day) and is one large scoop of sugar beet enough per feed? only someone said her feeds are too big, or is alfa a and sugarbeet different from hard feed as there not concentrates?

TS is fed by the mug, it is quite expensive to buy but is cheaper in the long run as it is a balancer and lasts up to 6 weeks. Fed twice a day.
You can safely feed several scoops of SBeet in one feed as it is forage, but work up to increasing it.

All the feedstuffs I have mentioned are forage so can be given in larger quantities and is better for the horse than cereal based feed imo.

Thank you for your advice deicin -
so does this sound okay:
2 large scoops alfa a oil
1 large scoop s/beet
and how many mugs of TS would be needed?

will of course increase/add gradually.

It is difficult to advise whether your horse is being fed enough without knowing her size and workload. I suspect part of the problem is that the other ponies are having more of their fair share of the hay, so although she is getting plenty of bucket feed she is going short on the hay front. Hay and haylage are much more cost-effective in putting on condition than bucket feed, and it is better for the horse than lots of cereal-based feed. Can the mare come in for a few hours a day so she can fill up on haylage? Alternatively can you electric fence the paddock in two and turn her out with the least greedy pony and put lots of haylage out for her in there?

Yes that is the right one. And yes that would be fine, but you can gradually feed more sugar beet, as it is forage and if it agrees with her, quite a lot.

I put an extra bale out last night and this morning there was quite a bit left, i topped it up with another half bale this morning and they all seem to be munching it down, she gets fed away from the ponies.
This is her this morning:
i think you can see a difference weight wise from around 4 wweeks ago in the bottom pic - shes actually dropped abit. It has been very cold here lately, 0 degrees this morning and about 2 degrees every other day and night.
She feels snug under her HW - shall i put an extra wool rug underneath?

Just called baileys and they have put together a feed plan:

baileys no4 conditioning cubes - 1 scoop
outshine supplement - 1 - 2 mugs
per feed twice per day

1 bucket (rubber skip) of alfa a to be fed seperate from the feed approx 2/3 hours after breakfast once per day

Seperate her from the ponies and ad lib hay (she gets ad lib hay anyway but on her own so the ponies dont steal it!)

They said i should see a difference within 6/8 weeks.

Going to introduce it slowly from tomorrow
