Hi - I would be interested to know please ..... for those of you who use wood pellets ....

Do your beds change at all in freezing conditions? Any advice/hints & tips on maintaining and laying new beds during the cold winter months?

Thanks in advance for your help.:)

I don't really find any difference, the initial bed that gets water added goes down in October and when I remove the wet patch I just mix the new pellets into the old bed so they absorb some damp from that. I suppose if you're doing it in freezing weather you may need to lay the bed, water and mix in at the same time rather than waiting for it to expand by it'self. I'm experimenting this year with pellet base and miscanthus on top for really mucky mare, so far so good :-)

My beds were ok (dont use anymore) but it would freeze when soaking . I stopped using when our pony rolled and got it in his eyes. It was a nightmare to clean out and he had a very sore eye.
