To quote Cat Stevens: 'I Love My Dog...as much as I love you...'.

She's a 7 month old black Lab, called Poppy.

Didn't want a lab as I thought they were a bit boring, everyone has them. But my OH really wanted one, and as I've got my horses, I thought he could at least have the dog he wants. Plus, he works at home, so she would be with him most of the time too.

How wrong I was. I am now Mummy Dog, and we've been inseperable ever since! She comes everywhere with me, in the car, in the lorry, up to the stables. Poor Daddy Dog doesn't have much of a look-in!!

She's has the most fantastic temperament, so friendly, adores children and other dogs, really trainable but also very cheeky and crafty with a sense of humour.

I am now a complete Lab convert, and I wouldn't have anything else!

Now I know why everyone has them!!

Labs are so lovely. Used to have a black lab who was the best behaved boy ever - miss him so much. Have now got a Ridgeback, he's a great dog too, I'd like to get a second dog in a couple of years and I think I would probably go for a lab again - have now fallen in love with the red ones, to go with my big red Ridgeback thug!!
 
I am a complete lab fan aswell now!! I have a 4 1/2 month old lab and i would not be without him now!!!
Does anyone have any tips on how to stop them from pulling on the lead?????xxx
 
My black lab is now 4 and he is such a good boy, never ever has to be told off, has the lovliest personality and is never any trouble at all.

they are super dogs!!
 
Heidi - to stop him pulling on the lead, have you tried the usual things - stop, turn direction each time he goes in front of you? Don't shout heel at him when he is already in front of you, say heel when he is walking beside you and praise. Hold a tasty titbit in your other hand and try to keep his attention, always praise when he is heeling correctly.

If all else fails find an area where you can walk up against a wall or solid fence, hold a whippy stick and flick it in front of you side to side as you are walking along (obviously you dont actually hit the dog with it) but it teaches him that his safe space is beside you.

You must be the most exciting thing to him - not whatever is ten yards infront!
