calm and condition v ride & relax

Whats the difference and does calm and condition have mollassses in?

i want to show the asbo beast this year and currently he is fed on ride and relax with sunflower seeds, our own chaff and garlic..no mollasses as this cuases as small skywards motion!

Juswt wondering whether to change on to calm and condition for a bit extra sparkle but no one in any shop seems to know the diffrence???

Ring Allen and Page and ask to speak to one of their nutrionists - they will explain it all for you. Without seeing the nutritional data in front of me I can't really comment but C&C will have far more calories than R&R - which is high in fibre but low in starch. Most likely slow release energy as it is non-heating (most likely oil) but which one you choose depends on your horse. If you need more condition then go for the C&C - if your horse is a good doer then go for R&R - you can always add oil if you need to.

Calm and condition is higher in protein to add condition! It does have a small amount of molasses in, and a higher digestable energy % to R+R. They are very different feeds!!

thankyou..thats what i wanted to know...we have found that the dales has an aversion to even the smallest amount of mollasses and becomes unhandable....he then makes us suffer for about a week with bad behavior and temper tantrums....i just wondered whether it would add some sparkle to show with..however he is looking well on the r&r so i may aswell keep him on it.....

If you want sparkle, keep him on what he is on if he is looking well, and add a small amount of whole oats to his feed. Only a small amount can just pick them up, without making them mad, and can be good just before showing etc
