, is this ok?

Hi yep make sure you mix it with plenty of water in your feed. I have also fed it dry but that was a couple of years ago. I think its changed now.

Yes, it's normal - bog standard nuts do that too though. It does have lots of sugar beet in it, and you are supposed to mix it with lots of water and chaff, but you don't have to soak it for any length of time.

I used to use it and was very happy with the results but it's very expensive. Have since done some research as to what's in it, and yes, it is mostly sugar beet, which is a bit of a rip off as sugar beet is cheap!

A couple of months ago, I changed onto normal competition nuts plus unmolassed sugar beet, alfalfa, and oil, and have had exactly the same results (in fact, he's gone a touch the other way and have had to cut down a bit!) at a fraction of the price.

the 'calm' element of it is just the lack of starch, there's nothing magically calming in there, and you can get that by using normal nuts and unmolassed sugar beet, oil, and a good chaff.
