Hi,
Ive never used calmers before and was wondering what would be the best bet for my horse.
Hes a 17hh 6year old Westphalian dressage warmblood, he is the soppiest, easiest horse to handle on the floor eg. he falls asleep on your shoulder, you can pull him around and leave him untied while tacking up etc.
However when riding he can be rather quirky. Especially when taken away to competitions where he becomes unsettled. Last time I moved yards he started napping badly, resulting in a fall and a broken ankle. Im moving him to my university in 3 weeks and am looking for something to take the edge off of him and hopefully help him focus a bit more and stay more level headed.
He isnt lazy to be ridden but hes not forward going either so its not so much that i need the energy taken away its the nervousness and unsettledness that effects him the most.
Any advice anyone has is more than appreciated as Im unsure of what to do and dont want this experience to be too stressful for him at all.
