Posted recently on wintering out as I have a TB mare (in foal) who seems quite stressy in the stable. Have left all horses out but she still seems quite stressy, walking round & round, pacing up & down, it's not the whole time she's out but the others are all grazing & she just seems to be constantly finding something to worry about.
I've only had her 2 months, I have her in with my little Section C pony & they are adjacent to my other 2 big mares, I really have a feeling she wants to be in with the other 2, she hasn't overly bonded with the pony but I don't want to upset the applecart. Pony & ISH would be friends with anything, but other TB is very protective & possessive about her field mate.
Her previous owner had 5 horses, they were all in separate fields but next to each other, she particularly favoured 1 of those.
I don't want to put them all in together yet as am worried about injuries & 2 of these mares are in foal & don't want unnecessary stress for them.
She's not stressy to handle, lead, groom etc. She just seems to do a lot of walking about. Feedwise, all she has is grass (not much of it though), haylege, scoop of Alpha A oil & Topspec Balancer.
Could a calmer work, never used one before, I would need one that would be ok for an in foal mare or could she settle in time, it has only been about 9 weeks since she came.
Any advice would be great.
