Hi, a friend has a very cheeky semi feral shetland, who has taken against being caught. This makes it very difficult to get her feet done,so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for us? ACP tablets made no difference,so we are running out of ideas!

magic calmer

or as a one off sedaline from the vet they dont supply acp any more that was good stuff i miss it how many did u give him?? I gave 5 to my 15 1 guy almost knocked him out

Thanks for the reccomendation of magic calmer,we will give it a go.She had 6 acp tablets, and was still able to bolt when she saw the rope.We need to catch her for the farrier, and when she has been caught will usually behave fine. She isnt scared, and will walk up to you for a scratch or treat, then bolt whe she realises its catching time. Its just how her wee feral mind works.

If 6 acp did not work magic calmer won't go anywhere near her.
Sedalin will be more effective and remember that they don't get quieter the more you give them past the recommended dose for weight they will just stay sleepy longer. Will she eat it in some treacle?
And remember to allow the sedalin long enough to work, remember that if she gets wound up before the sedative has chance to get hold the adrenaline can over ride the drug. This maybe what happened with the acp? It would be a bit unusual for 6 acp not to touch a shetland! Unless maybe they were the half dose tablets.
