I have a 15 yr old TBxID gelding. We bought him at 7yrs, skinny as a hat rack and no routine what so ever. For the last 7 yrs we have lept him on part livery but last Jan moved him onto DIY. He has always been stressy but we hoped that putting him on DIY would help. During the summer they are 24 hr turn out but from Nov to end of March they are out from 0700-13.30 (still a reasonable time). Unfortunately he doesn't agree and has got so stressy that he now wont eat his breakfast and the moment anything moves he is whinnying and box walking. I know ther are lots of calmers on the market aimed at mares or instant results but I need a long term solution - any deas - have tried Top Spec Calmer and that had no effect. He is currently fed on Fast Fibre and Re-leve plus soaked hay, He is working at Medium level dressage and some RC stuff.

If you find the magnesium doesn't work then brewers yeast may be worth a try. None of the magnesium calmers had any effect on mine whatsoever, but since I put her on the yeast she's a different horse, just much more rational about everything.

Tried every calmer known to man and the only two that I have found wrok are-
ProSportive 'chill'- (cheapest)
NupaFeed (may have got the spelling/name wrong)
:D
