Can you give me an idea of average prices for all the usual and anything else you can think of, DIY/assisted DIY livery, bedding etc etc. I can't seem to find many things on-line and want to work out rough budgets ;)

Can you be a bit more specific about where in Cambridge(shire) you are looking? Livery out in the Fens is very different to that in the villages just outside the city center. :)

Livery on the cambs/herts/beds border I paid £45 a week for DIY including hay and straw. extras were £5 to turnout, £5 to put on the walker, £7 to muck out....two schools and a good selection of jumps but T/O from about 9-3 only and no turnout in wet/snow/ice weather

The problem is I'm not 100% sure where I'll be living (applying all over the area) but my interview next week is Huntingdon and it's Huntingdon/Peterborough way I'm looking atm.

Ah, right, that's likely to be a bit cheaper than central Cambridge :) I'm pretty certain there are some users on here from around there who will be more help than me as I don't do livery atm :)

Probably not much use if you're looking at Huntingdon/Peterborough, but in South Cambs I'm on DIY livery for £25pw, straw and hay not included (but can buy nice straw from YO for £1.50 a bale), but all year turnout, floodlit rubber school.

The yard I keep my horses at is near Whittlesey on the outskirts of Peterborough. Total DIY is £30 per week which is about average for the area for livery yards but private yards or those with less facilities can be as low as £20 per week. Yard I am on has 2 schools and no restriction on grazing (but most people are sensible and don't turn out/limit turnout if the weather is severe). Turn out, bring in etc can either be arranged with others on the yard or with the YM.

Hay in the area costs between £20 and £35 for a large round (depending on quality and supplier), small bales between £2.50 and £4.00. Straw any where between £1 and £2 per bale. Haylage between £20 and £45 for a large round bale.

Plenty of good farriers in the area between £50 and £65 a set. If you need any more info, just let me know.:)
