it's a Canon DC95, with a mini DVD, i've tried taking the DVD out and putting it in the DVD drive on the computer, but nothing happens. there's cables, but they don't fit in the holes on the computer

umm, has it got a firewire port?
you can get different cables from belkin and other companies, once you work out what you need.
have you tried googling the make and model and "transfer video to computer" or anything, because there's lots of sites dedicated to such stuff.
best of luck!

As has been said although you get a variety of cables with a camvorder for some reason there rarely is a firewire cable. Check to see if you have firewire connection on your computer. If you have, buy yourself a firewire cable & connect it between camcorder & computer. Then turn your camcorder on & wait. The computer should recognise your camcorder & you can then just follow the steps in the windows that open on your screen. Normally you will upload via Windows Movie maker. OK
