This is my 3rd winter with my 6 year old cob and each year at this time he gets really spooky and full of himself. He's a pain bringing in and out and I need to use a chifney as he rears! He's really spooky on the roads and I just need a leaf to blow up and all hell's let loose! This year he seems worse!
I know that it's lack of exercise and turnout as that's the only thing that has changed since the clocks changed. Unfortunately I can't turn out 24-7, live near London and limited grazing, ride as much as poss. Done the obvious re feed, so nothing heating, lots of fibre, lots of hay etc etc. My local tack shop recommended Top Spec calmer, my only worry is it says takes up to 3 weeks to work... Gulp! he's a big bugger and I would like to stay out of A&E this winter!
Joking aside would love anyones opinion on this supplement, have always steered clear of them in the past as I have thought that 'proper' feeding was sufficient. There's so many supplements on the market are they just a gimmick or do they really work? Read on here about magnesium and brewers yeast and one by Blue Chip? Anyway all ideas and opinions gratefully received! oh just remembered tried calm and condition feed last year but no real difference.
Who said cobs were sensible??!!! Would love to ride the ex-race horse at my yard at the moment he's sooo much safer!!
