After reading and watching the Amercian news report about the horse that was dragged 2 miles behind a trailer in America I am so pleased that I have a camera in my trailer. I can see straight away if there is a problem and stop immediately. Not saying that this would ever happen to me as I am paranoid about everything being closed up properly and also constantly check in my mirrors. Can't believe she didn't know.
Who else has a camera in their trailer and do you think it's worth it for your peace of mind?

I agree and disagree with CCTV in trailers/boxes.

I agree because like you say, its peace of mind, and can also prevent a bad accident becoming an horrific one.

I disagree as it could be a distraction in its self, and could cause an accident! I suppose if you had a passenger then it wouldn't be so bad, but if your on your own, you could be distracted by what your horse is doing, rather than what the cars around you are doing!!

Just my opinion!

My OH bought me one that you use for reversing and it works a treat. Instead of fixing the camera into the bumper of the car you put it in the trailer and wire it into the lights. It means that you have to have your lights on for the camera to work but then most cars over here drive with the lights on all the time. I think its for safety reaons - makes you more visible to other road users.

love mine but soon learn not to look at it much, but prooves that i dont give them a bad ride.

Mines a wireless reversing camera from Costco, camera in trailer runs off interior light, colour monitor runs off fag lighter in vehicle, works a treat, I can see whats happening, no sound, but then I have my stereo on that loud I wouldn't here anything anyway.

i will be getting one when i pay for my trailer in the next few days mainly because mum has never towed and i will give her peace of mind after she gets a few lessons from our farmer who has done alot of towing over the years and we do not know how/ if taz will travel in one as he has always been in a lorry, but is usually calm i can see me spending a few days loading and unloading him from it when i get it next wekk

Didn't realise that Costco did them. Can you remember how much they are? I really want one. My mare suddenly started being wierd on her own in the trailer - same box, same driver, nothing different than the other few years before...x

I have a camera in my trailer fitted by my OH :)

He bought a wireless camera and a colour monitor which he fitted in the 4x4. Its brilliant, has a loveky clear picture whether its night or day. Think the cost came to about £70.00 - the monitor was the most expensive at £50 x

I always worry what is happening in the trailer, I hate it and after a drive no matter how short i'm so tense from the worry. I keep telling myself he is fine but I never know for sure and with his frustration kicking the trailer about doesn't really help my visions of feet through the sides etc.

I would be very interested in where people got theirs and how much.

I've got Trailer Vision in mine and its brilliant. I have a wireless camera in the trailer (wired up to the interior light) and a reversing camera as well. I wouldn't be without it now. I don't find it a distraction, in fact it reasurring to know that she is fine and having a good nose around.

I think it was about £300 and hubby fitted it :D

i got a "baby monitor" set off e-bay for £40. It is a wireless rechargeable set and works lovely in the trailer.

As there are usually 2of us, I hadn't bothered with a camera, but after having to recently travel alone, I invested in one of these- and it's brill!

The ONLy disadvantage is that the camera battery lasts 2 1/2 hours, and while thats ample for local trips, if we're travelling somewhere further it wouldn't be. However, I have brought a power inverter, so it can charge from my cigarette lighter too!:D

This is the one I have too.. Could you point me in the direction of the things you use to charge it up

We never travel ours without the trailer camera on. OH got me mine as a present a few years ago so no idea where from etc. But wouldn't be without it, definitely not.
