My sister and I camp every year. We normally arrive on Thursday morning and do not leave until Sunday afternoon.
Couple of tips -
*take flip flops for the shower as the floors are filthy
*bring a windbreaker
*bring plenty of wine, snacks and food for the campsite - there is only one food trolly and no pub within walking distance
*get friendly with your neighbours and have a party
*go to bed early while you are still warm otherwise you'll never warm up
*you can never have enough torches
*take some wet-wipes, the loos are fitted with anti-bac gel but you never feel really clean
There should be - they only sell plot space in advance so in theory every who arrives gets a spot. We arrived on Friday morning our first time and had no problem getting a good pitch.
Yup - def going this. We can normally be found in the field closest to the village (therefore reducing distance to walk to event). 2 blondes, plenty of wine and a large black 4x4!
what is plot space?
I going and was thinking more along the usual line of a hotel but this thread has made me think that camping would be fun!!!
I haven't camped since I did my Duke of Edinborough award though and my group failed three times before we passed!!!!!!!
I see, I thought you meant something else to do with camping could be bought on the day!!!!!!
Where do you book a plot? Is that all you have to do in advance? Can you have electricity in a tent? how do you cook in a tent if there is no pub nearby? do you know the best place to buy a tent?
Take stocks of throw-away bbqs or a small portable one, the on site butcher is v good but pretty pricey so maybe bring your own. Plenty of wine, sit back and enjoy!!!
Oh and fold-up chairs for the trot-up are handy
Sorry, I was not being very clear. Have a look on the Badminton website - campsite tickets are sold when the others become available. We normally get a ticket whcih covers a plot at the campsite, entry for each day to the event for 2 people and all you have to get ontop is SJ ticket.
We take lots of snacky bits and bobs and food that can be served cold that we store in a cool box. The on-site Fish & chip van does a selection of hot fried food and hot breakfasts and there is plenty of choice at the main event site.
I got my tent and all my camping bits from decathlon.
