After OH had a lot of fun at Blenheim (shock!), we're probably going to get season tickets next year, but may have a go at camping in Badminton (not a caravan or horsebox, but in an actual tent)... if it does not get cancelled next year.

I've surfed around, found a little info here and there (like toilet issue, etc.), but I really want to know from those who have done this, how it actually was? If you have pictures, even better!

They say there are "water facilities". What do they mean by that, and how far do you have to walk? Are people gonna really loud (a la Glastonbury) or is there a chance of privacy as well?

I'd really be interested in this...

My honest advice would be to choose a caravan instead. The weather can be simply AWFUL, and to bed down in a potentially wet and muddy field is not my idea of fun.

There are showers, drinking water taps and waste disposal also Camp Shop, chippy van and Bar..If you are after a romantic get away for two then Badders is not for you..It has an amazing party atmosphere in the evenings and lots of get togethers and lots of Pimms consumed.. The camping field is nearest to the main entrance..Thousands of tents so can be quite noisy at night..and can be bloody chilly.
A majority of the tents are in one field and caravans/horse boxes in another..You will need to specify what you are taking when booking camping pitches

I love it and now we have sold out caravan we (me,hubby and dog) are going to rough it in the horse trailer..

I don't mind that sort of atmosphere, but OH is a little into his privacy (don't ask me why!). But hotels at that time are ridiculously expensive (and many already booked out), and I do like the camping idea!

Aargh! Decisions, decisions...

It is a brilliant four days..I have to say i was so pleased they cancelled it this year as i couldent go and all my friends who were going started to gloat about it..Haha that'll teach em!!.

You could always buy a season ticket for yourselves and the car, and camp nearby. There is a nice little campsite in Horton which is about 4 miles away from Badminton. Probably won't have the same atmosphere but I'm sure will be busy with people heading to the horse trials.

Actually, scrap that, it's caravans only!!
